Yesterday was a fantastic day! The energy in the place was great! I loved it when Trevor took us through the excercise of clapping to the beat. The engagement in worship following that was so good. Sometimes I don't think people realize how much excitement is created when all of us in unison join together to "make a joyful noise to the Lord."
I received quite a few comments on yesterday's message. In fact, I woke up this morning to several e-mails from people saying that the whole "how we speak to one another" really hit home. I had one person say that he could really sense I was passionate about the topic. He was right. So much of the way we feel about ourselves is driven by what we receive not only from our own self talk but from what we receive from others. Wouldn't it be great if all of us chose to bless people instead of name call, blame, criticize and gossip?
This week is a huge Sunday for us. Much of what will take place on Sunday will need to begin prior to that day. I hope that people will really take to heart the need to rub shoulders (invest) in people that have no church home or spiritual background and then (invite) them to this week's service. It's so easy for us to forget why we exist. I hope all of WCC will prioritize making this Sunday a Sunday that we won't soon forget.
One last thing...isn't it great to see all those youth sitting on the first two rows and engaging in our service? Knowing that so many kids are leaving the church after they turn 18 makes it all the more reason why we MUST prioritize these kids. This Sunday we have a special service at 9:00 AM just for them. Our goal is to have 100 kids. If you are reading this blog, please pray with me that we will reach our goal. It's more than just a number. It represents the opportunity for us to change lives.
